Aras Onur (born April 23, 1982) is a Turkish author, poet, and columnist.

Early life

Aras Onur was born to a semi-Muslim Turkish-Armenian family in Ankara. He graduated from TED Ankara College, and University of Ankara. He has started to write in the early 2000s. He declared about his sexual life in 2005, and now he is a well-known gay author who lives in Turkey.

Career

His first book of poetry was published in 2004, which is called Sudan Masallar, could be translated in English as "Tales of Fake". His synopsis text for a shortie (Gıyabında Cam Kadeh) ("The Wineglass in absentia" in English) was awarded for the second place by Istanbul Bilgi University, in 2007. In the same year, a group of little theatre performed one of his stageplay Üç Kapı (Eng: "The Three of Doors").

There are lyrics of him (known only three) composed by bands in Turkey.

He is one of prolific "literate" of Turkey who creates in many aspects of literature and written arts.
