Aqeel ibn Abi Talib (Arabic: عقيل بن أبي طالب) was born in the year 590.

Aqeel was second of four sons of Abu Talib, who was the uncle and protector of Muhammad and father of Ali ibn Abi Talib. Aqeel's nickname was Abu Aqeel. He fought in the Battle of Mu'tah and became a respectable person in life. He died at the age of 96.

Aqeel had six sons, Muslim ibn Aqeel, Jaffar ibn Aqeel, Musa ibn Aqeel, Abdul Rahman ibn Aqeel, Abdullah ibn Aqeel, Abi Saeed ibn Aqeel, and a daughter, Ramlah bint Aqeel.

Aqeel was the man who found Umm ul-Banin to marry Imam Ali. Descendants of Aqeel Ibn Abu talib are numerous in number being spread out Yemen parts of Oman and a large portion of Somalia.

Aqeel was known as an one of the four experts in the term of Genealogy and history of Quraish tribe[1]
