Applied Communication Sciences (ACS) is a communications and information research, engineering and consulting company based in the United States. The company was previously the R&D consulting arm of Telcordia Technologies. It became a wholly owned subsidiary following Ericsson’s acquisition of Telcordia[1][2] on January 12, 2012.[3][4] Applied Communication Sciences is legally registered as TT Government Solutions.

On May 15, 2013, Applied Communication Sciences became a business of Vencore, Inc.

Applied Communication Sciences is headquartered in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, with additional locations in Red Bank, New Jersey and the Washington, D.C. area.

History

Applied Communication Sciences most recently operated as the Advanced Technology Solutions business unit of Telcordia, its origins tracing back to Bellcore, a telecommunications R&D company based in the United States created as part of the 1982 Modification of Final Judgment that broke up American Telephone & Telegraph (AT&T).

Business focus

Applied Communication Sciences addresses large-scale information and communications problems requiring deep knowledge of technology and operations. Particular areas of focus include cyber security, data analytics, wireless and mobility applications, advanced software methodologies, network and operations, information assurance, optical networking, application engineering and integration, and smart grid.

Including work as part of Telcordia, Applied Communication Sciences researchers have produced more than 2000 patents across ADSL, ATM/SONET, Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN), optical networking / Wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM), wireless (3G/4G, cellular, mobility), security and other areas of communications and information.

Applied Communication Sciences is active in the development of a wide range of industry standards, with standards bodies membership including IEEE, ATIS, TIA,[5] 3GPP, ETSI, OIF, Open Mobile Alliance, and related industry organizations.

Corporate ownership and structure

ACS is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Vencore, Inc., a provider of full life cycle, mission-focused systems engineering and integration capabilities to the U.S. Intelligence Community, Department of Defense and other agencies.
