This is a 7" single from The Sea Nymphs, which is a side project by Tim and Sarah Smith, and William D. Drake of the band Cardiacs.

It was given away free with the Day Is Gone 12", then sold separately by mail order only. The label notes that the tracks are from the forthcoming album "Treetops High", although this is an error. The 1992 album the tracks actually appear on is The Sea Nymphs.

This is a reissue of the Appealing to Venus 7" with extra tracks that was recorded by The Sea Nymphs, a side project of Cardiacs.

This CD only keeps Appealing To Venus from the original 7", dropping Treetops High in favour of a compilation of extra tracks taken from the Mr and Mrs Smith and Mr Drake and The Sea Nymphs albums. Hymn, a Cardiacs song, is a hidden bonus track and is taken from a bootleg recording from the Stonehenge Free Festival in 1984. It was released as a limited edition of 1000 copies and has since been deleted.[1] It is a rare Cardiacs collectable.
