Commonly called the harnessed tiger moth, Apantesis phalerata is a species of moth of the Arctiidae family.[3] It is found from Ontario, Quebec and Maine to Florida, west to Texas, north to South Dakota.
The wingspan is 30–42 mm. The moths fly from May to September depending on the location.
The larvae feed on Trifolium, Spartina, Taraxacum, and Plantago species, as well as other low-growing plants.
