Antonio Reynoso

Antonio Reynoso is an American politician. He is the current Councilmember of the New York City Council representing New York City's 34th district, which comprises the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Williamsburg and Bushwick, and Ridgewood, Queens. Reynoso is a member of the Democratic Party.

Early life

Reynoso was born and raised in the Los Sures section of Williamsburg to immigrant parents from the Dominican Republic. Reynoso graduated from LeMoyne College with a bachelor’s degree in political science. As a Community Organizer for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, he led a comprehensive coalition to improve the professional lives of child-care providers by legitimizing the profession through Union incorporation.

Political career

In 2013, Reynoso ran for the New York City Council to succeed the term limited Diana Reyna, in whose office he previously served as Chief of Staff.[1] Reynoso succeeded to office after defeating Vito Lopez in the Democratic primary.[2]

Reynoso is the current Chair of the New York City Council's Committee on Sanitation & Solid Waste Management, and Co-Chair of the Council's Progressive Caucus.
