Antonio Mirante (born 8 July 1983 in Castellammare di Stabia, Province of Naples) is an Italian footballer who currently plays for Parma F.C.

Career

Started his professional career with Juve, Mirante was loaned to Crotone in 2004, with Bartolucci, Guzman, Konko, Paro and Gastaldello.

In 2005 he was loaned to Siena with Legrottaglie, Tudor, Paro, Gastaldello, Packer, Molinaro, Cacciotto and Volpato.[1]

He was back to Juventus in 2006 due to Juventus relegation to Serie B and was capped for the first time when first choice goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon was red carded against U.C. AlbinoLeffe in the 24th minute.[2]

He was transferred to the Italian Serie A club U.C. Sampdoria on a one-year loan deal for season 2007–08.[3]

During the transfer window of 2008, Sampdoria bought half of the registration rights of Mirante for €1.5M from Juventus,[4] on 19 July 2009 he went on loan to Parma F.C. in exchange for Marco Rossi.

In June 2010, Sampdoria decided not to buy Rossi but sold Mirante to Parma. The Genoa club bought the remaining half from Juventus for another €1.5M and sold to Parma for €3.6M,[5] despite losing its 'keeper Luca Castellazzi to Internazionale and failing to sign Marco Storari from Milan, who had been on loan at the club.

Mirante has since 2009 been a regular in Parma's team, missing just 3 of 76 Serie A matches.

International career

He was a member of Italy U-21 team in 2006 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship, as an unused substitute. He has not made a debut in U-20 & U-21 level, despite having been called up six times.[6]

On 8 August 2010, he received his first senior call-up, to replace injured Federico Marchetti.[7]
