Career

Antoine Arnault started his career in the advertising department of Louis Vuitton. In 2005 he is nominated at the board of directors and becomes director of communications in 2007.[2]

He created the “Core Values” campaign in 2012 featuring political figures (Mikhail Gorbachev), professional athletes (Muhammad Ali, Zinedine Zidane) and celebrities (Sean Connery, Francis Ford Coppola, Keith Richards).[3]

In 2008 he is nominated at the editorial independence committee of Les Echos, a major French daily journal.[4]

In 2009 he makes the Young Global Leader Honourees list.[5]

In 2011 he launches the LVMH “Special Days”, the aim of which is to communicate about the workshops and expertise of the group. In 2013 he repeats the initiative and doubles the number of workshops opened to the public, bringing the total to 42. The objective was to showcase the fact that the technical know-how was continually being transmitted from the skilled craftsmen unto the next talented generation.[6][7]

Since 2011 he is the CEO of Berluti and works to develop this LVMH brand through the opening of several shops in California, Dubai and New York.[8] He hired the designer Alessandro Sartori in order to expand from a colourful shoemaker household to a full-on men luxury brand name.[9] Antoine Arnault has invested 100 million € in developing the brand and its colourful footwear and classic modern fit clothes.

Under his guidance, in three years business has grown from around $45 million to approximately $130 million a year in sales.[10]

Since the 5th of December 2013, and subsequently to the acquisition of the brand by LVMH, he is chairman of Loro Piana, global leader in high-end cashmere.[11][12]

Antoine Arnault gave several speeches on the subject of the luxury industry and its future. He is convinced that the future of the luxury industry is about embracing technological revolution and merging with new technologies. During the Condé Nast International Luxury Conference of 22 April 2015, he made a focus on consumers’ use of digital tools in daily life that encourage luxury brands to reach consumers through new technologies.[13] But Antoine Arnault reminds that the luxury industry specific features lie in non-obsolescence and giving physical experience, as he underlined during his speech at Stanford University on the 4th of February 2004 the necessity for quality for LVMH products.[14]
