Antão Martins Homem (1450s-1531) was a Portuguese noblemen, 2° Capitão Donatario, (Captain) of Praia. He succeeded his father Álvaro Martins, in the captaincy of the Terceira Island.[1]

Biography

Antão was the son of Álvaro Martins and Inês Martins Cardoso.[2] His wife was Isabel de Ornelas daughter of Pedro Álvares da Câmara (nephew of João Gonçalves Zarco) and Catarina de Ornelas Saavedra.[3] His son Álvaro Martins Homem III, was the 3° Captain of the islands, was married to Beatriz de Noronha.[4]

Antão Martins Homem was descended of Pedro Homem da Costa one of The Twelve of England.[5]
