Hegerty has also made an appearance on a number of other quiz shows including Mastermind, 15 to 1, Today's the Day, Are You an Egghead? and Brain of Britain.[3] As of June 2014, Hegerty was ranked 40th (and 2nd among women) in the World Quizzing Championships.[4] In November 2013 she competed in the Bolton Premier Quiz League to become Brain of Bolton for the second time.[5]

In 2005, Hegerty was diagnosed as having Asperger syndrome after occasionally having intense, month-long fascinations with obscure topics, in the process building enormous amounts of knowledge on that topic.[6]
