Anne Barnard

Anne Barnard is an American journalist who currently works for the New York Times as the Beirut Bureau chief. She was born in New York, studied at Yale University, and began reporting for the Moscow Times from 1993 to 1995. She then worked for the Philadelphia Inquirer from 1996 to 2000, and then worked for the Boston Globe as the Baghdad Bureau chief and Middle East Bureau chief.[1] Despite her position, Anne Barnard is not able to read or speak Arabic and cannot report without the aid of a translator.[2]

Awards

She received the Mike Berger Award in 2011 from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.[3]
