Larissa de Macedo Machado (born 30 March 1993), known by her stage name Anitta, is a Brazilian recording artist, songwriter and dancer. In 2010, she signed a contract with the label Furacão 2000. Anitta won international fame in 2013 after releasing the song "Show das Poderosas" in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Uruguay, Spain and Portugal, and in parts of north America, and in November 2014 performed at the Latin Grammy Award becoming the youngest Latin American singer to perform at the awards, but received no award. Anitta is fluent in three languages, English, Spanish and Portuguese.

She signed a millionaire contract with Warner Music label in January 2013 and released their first studio album, Anitta, in July of that year and received triple gold record certificate and double platinum by ABPD. The first single from the album, "Show das Poderosas", became a hit and won the top 100 of Billboard Brazil.

Biography

Anitta was born in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on March 30, 1993. She is the youngest daughter of Míriam Macedo and Mauro Machado; her brother Renan Machado serves as her artistic producer. Her father divorced her mother when Anitta was still young.

She began her career at 8 years old singing in the choir of Santa Luzia Church in Rio de Janeiro by the intervention of her maternal grandparents. At 11 years of age with the allowance she received, she decided to do a course in English, And later, she won dance lessons provided by the teacher of her mother

At 16, she finished the course of administration done at a technical school in Rio de Janeiro. A year later, she decided to pursue artistic career. That same year, she was the winner of the trophy "Revelation of Music", an important prize in Brazil.

Anitta's stage name was inspired by the character Anita, from TV Globo, series Presença de Anita. She thought the character "amazing" because "[she] could be sexy without being vulgar, girl and woman at the same time." With the help of a musical producer, she decided to put more of a "t" in the name.

Career

2012–13: First album and international breakthrough

In January 2013, due to the success of the song Meiga e Abusada in Rio de Janeiro, Anitta signed a recording contract with Warner Music Group.

The song "Meiga e Abusada" became among the most requested songs on Brazilian radio stations in early 2013, The music video of the song was recorded Las Vegas, United States, and directed by American Blake Farber, who has worked with Beyoncé Knowles.

The first studio album titled Anitta, was released on 6 June 2013. The music video for the song "Show das Poderosas" received considerable attention in the media in May, 2013. The video became the most watched one on YouTube in Brazil, surpassing 85 million views. Also helping to music, which remained for weeks at the top of the best selling in the digital store iTunes Brazil, and still making it the third most played song on radio in the country in the year 2013. With the music and the video clip of Show das Poderosas, the singer became internationally known, the song also held the top #10 of the music charts in Spain, Portugal and Argentina.

The first studio album was entitled Anitta and had its launch on June 6, 2013, containing 15 songs.

2014 – Present: Ritmo Perfeito and first live album

Sales to the tickets for the recording of their first live album went on sale in November 2013. The presentation took place in Rio de Janeiro on February 15, 2014 and was attended by about ten thousand people.[1]

The song "Blá Blá Blá" was released as a single from the album on March 23, 2014, the song has surpassed expectations of producers Anitta, and remained for weeks at #1 in Billboard Brazil. The album came to be titled Fantastic World Anitta but was renamed to Meu Lugar with the release of the song "Quem Sabe" on iTunes.

The album had its launch on June 4, 2014, was released along with her second studio album, Ritmo Perfeito, that had its cover art released in May 2014.[2]
