Career highlights

Angelo Congear (1888–1986) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Port Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian National Football League between 1908 and 1922.

The Australian born son of a Greek immigrant from an island in Greece, John Angelo Congear, who lived to be 101 years old,[5] Angelo Congear was considered to be one of the finest rovers in South Australia in his era.[6]

Due to a lack of definitive records, it is not know how many games he played, but it is claimed that he only missed one game during his fifteen seasons with Port Adelaide[7] and that he played over 200 games, including seven Grand finals.[8] Upon his induction into the Port Adelaide Football Club Hall of Fame he was listed as having played over 150 games.[3]

A reporter for the Daily Herald of Adelaide considered him to be the best player during Port Adelaide's 1914 Championship of Australia Victory.[9]
