Ang Sugo or The Last Messenger (international title) is an upcoming epic-historical-biographical film dramatising the life of Felix Ysagun Manalo, the first Executive Minister of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC), and the church he preached. Manalo is regarded by the members of the Iglesia ni Cristo as the last prophet of God and restorer of the true church, whom the Church gives the title Sugò (Tagalog, "messenger" or "envoy").[4]
Plot
Ang Sugo covers Manalo's life, particularly his religious journey that culminated in his establishing the Iglesia Ni Cristo, which he registered with the Philippine government on 27 July 1914. The film will also depict the origins of the church during the American Occupation, its growth in the Philippines, its international expansion and the administrations of later Executive Ministers until the present.[3][5]
Cast and characters
- Dennis Trillo as Felix Y. Manalo the first Executive Minister (Tagalog: Tagapamahalang Pangkalahatan) of the Iglesia ni Cristo, and incorporated it with the Philippine Government on July 27, 1914. Because there were no precursors to the registered church, external sources and critics of the Iglesia ni Cristo refer to him as the founder of the Iglesia ni Cristo and describe him as such. The official doctrine of the Iglesia ni Cristo is that Felix Y. Manalo is the last messenger of God, sent to reestablish the first church founded by Jesus Christ, which the INC claims to have fallen into apostasy following the death of the Apostles.

Production
At least half a million of people will participate as extras for the film. The film will be shoot in different parts of the world where INC has established congregations. Aside from the over-all director, Joel Lamangan, the church will hire an Oscar-winning director of photography from Germany.[4][6]
Screening
The movie was scheduled to be released on May 2015. It is still a part of the celebration of INC’s centennial last July 2014.[7] Once the movie is completed, it will be premiered in the 55,000-seater Philippine Arena, and the 20,000-seater Philippine Stadium in Ciudad de Victoria, Bocaue, Bulacan, both owned by the church. The movie premiere will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a film screening,[6][8] which is held by the premiere of 2012 documentary film Honor Flight, with an attendance of 28,442 people.[9]
