Andrew David "Andy" Herren (born November 14, 1986) is an American part-time adjunct[1] professor, most notable for winning the fifteenth season of the American reality television show Big Brother 15 (U.S.) in 2013. He is also the first openly gay winner in the show's history.
Big Brother 15
Early in the game Andy formed an alliance with Amanda and McCrae, reporting everything he heard straight to them, helping to evict many of the other houseguests. Aaryn later joined them forming a new alliance, 3 A.M.
In Week 7, Andy won his first HoH competition and nominated Jessie and Spencer for eviction. He later won the Power of Veto that same week and decided to keep his nominations the same, leading to Jessie's unanimous eviction. In Week 9, Andy became the replacement nominee after Amanda saved McCrae from the block, but was spared after Aaryn was evicted in a 5-0 vote. After Aaryn was evicted, he made the decision to attempt to get rid of McCrae and Amanda, the people who he aligned with most of the game. "I'm not playing for third place," he said. To do this, he secretly became a part of "The Exterminators" alliance with GinaMarie, Judd, and Spencer. In creating this alliance, he was sneakily able to play both sides of the house, assuring Amanda and McCrae he was still with them. But his loyalty fell with the Exterminators as the alliance successfully evicted Amanda and Elissa during a double eviction week, but were forced to turn on Judd after McCrae won the Power of Veto in Week 11, saving himself from being evicted. Andy would go on to win the penultimate HoH competition as well as the final Power of Veto, choosing not to save either McCrae or Spencer and allowing GinaMarie to evict McCrae.
Andy won Big Brother 15 by a vote of 7-2 on finale night, only not receiving votes from Aaryn and Judd, becoming the first openly gay houseguest to win Big Brother.
