Ananias Eloi Castro Monteiro (born January 20, 1989), simply known as Ananias, is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Chapecoense, on loan from Cruzeiro, as an attacking midfielder.

Career

Born in São Luís, Maranhão, Ananias graduated from Bahia's youth categories, and made his professional debuts in 2008 Série B. In 2011, he was loaned to Portuguesa, in a two-year deal.[1][2]

After good performances on the club, and with Lusa being compared with Barcelona, Ananias was called Ananiesta (compared with Andrés Iniesta) by the fans.[3] In April 2012, Portuguesa bought half of his rights from Bahia.

On 29 May 2013 Ananias was loaned to Palmeiras.[4] After achieving promotion with the club he was subsequently loaned to Sport Recife and Chapecoense.
