Anabelle Smith (born 3 February 1993) is an Australian diver. She has been selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 3m springboard synchro event.

Personal

Nicknamed Belle, Smith was born on 3 February 1993 in Malvern, Victoria.[1] She was named the 2011-2012 YoungStar Award Westside News Sport winner.[2] As of 2012, she lives in Brisbane.[1]

Smith is 159 centimetres (63 in) tall and weighs 50 kilograms (110 lb).[1]

Diving

Smith competes in the 3m springboard synchro event.[3][4] She has a diving scholarship with the Australian Institute of Sport[1] and is a member of Gannets Diving Club.[1] She trains at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre.[1] As of 2012, she is coached by Hui Tong.[1]

Smith became Sharleen Stratton's partner following the retirement of Briony Cole, Stratton's former partner.[5]

Smith represented Australia at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, where she earned a bronze medal in the 10 metre synchro with partner Cole.[1] As an eighteen-year-old, Smith and Sharleen Stratton won a bronze medal in the 3m springboard synchro at the 2011 World Aquatics Championships with a score of 306.90.[5] In the 10 metre synchro event, with partner Stratton, at 2011 FINA World Championships, she finished third.[1] At the 2012 FINA Diving Grand Prix in Madrid in the 3m springboard synchro with partner Sharleen Stratton, she finished second with a score of 293.58.[3] At the 2012 Australian Diving Championships, she and partner Sharleen Stratton finished first in the 3m springboard synchro event, coming from behind to beat Sherilyse Gowlett and Esther Qin in their final dive.[4] She has been selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 3m springboard synchro event.[4]
