AMSOIL Inc. is an American corporation based in Superior, Wisconsin that primarily formulates and packages synthetic lubricants and filters. The company's advertising slogan is The First in Synthetics.
History
As a jet fighter squadron commander, Lieutenant Colonel Albert J. Amatuzio had the opportunity to witness synthetic lubricants in action. Although commercial uses for synthetic engine oils had emerged as early as the 1920s with Standard Oil and further pushed onto the market in 1946 with National Carbide Company, Amatuzio felt inspired to conduct research in the early 1960s. He soon re-branded the old technology with the slogan, "First in Synthetics" and sold commercially available synthetic oils using a multi level marketing business plan.
Present
AMSOIL has gone on to formulate synthetic lubricating oils for engine and gear applications, including those for specialized vehicles and severe operating conditions. In addition, AMSOIL has developed fuel additives, filtration systems and other companion products that supplement and extend lubricant performance.
Distribution
AMSOIL products are blended and packaged at the AMSOIL Center in Superior, Wisconsin. It serves as the hub of a global distribution network. Regional warehouses fulfill North American orders; AMSOIL bottles, cases, drums and totes are shipped worldwide.
AMSOIL products are distributed through a network of independent dealers who work with their customers and accounts. Dealers map out lubrication programs and identify ways to reduce costs. AMSOIL customers and accounts can order from their servicing dealer or ordering directly from AMSOIL INC.
Research and validation
The chemical and engine-test laboratories are equipped with analytical instruments needed to design and develop synthetic technology.
Lubricant studies have involved vehicles requiring severe lubricant applications: taxicabs, delivery fleets, police and emergency vehicles, over-the-road transports and heavy-duty construction and industrial machinery.
Additional testing takes place weekly on race tracks across North America. AMSOIL lubricants are used by racing teams operating off-road trucks, stock cars, high-powered boats, dirt bikes and snowmobiles. [1]
