Amourah is a town and commune in Djelfa Province, Algeria. According to the 1998 census it has a population of 5,879.[1]
It corresponds to ancient Amaura, a town in the Roman province of Mauretania Caesariensis, whose bishop, Urbanus, was one of the Catholic bishops whom the Arian Vandal king Huneric summoned in 484 to a conference in Carthage and then exiled.[2][3]
No longer a residential bishopric, Amaura is today listed by the Catholic Church as a titular see.[4]
