The Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB) is a principle cabinet institution and federal body responsible for formulating and directing policies regarding energy conservation, scientific developments in nuclear technology, and safety in handling nuclear materials.
Mandate and its responsibilities includes running the programs in energy conservation, nuclear power production, energy-related research and production, radioactive waste disposal, and overseeing the public safety of nation's atomic weapons programs. It also direct research in bioelectricity; the Biodiesel production program was originally oriented by the AEDB. The AEDB also sponsors research in the physical sciences in the institution for energy conservation and development.
Although, the AEDB is administrated through the appointed chairman and chief executive officer; all policies and funding research is oversees by the prime minister.
