Career

Wright was cast as Laverne Roberts for Scrubs. After six seasons, her character was killed off in "My Long Goodbye". She returned in season seven playing a new character, Nurse Shirley. Initial reports stated that her character would be the alcoholic, irreligious sister of Laverne, but these turned out to be inaccurate. She later returned to play Nurse Roberts in the season 8 finale, "My Finale", as JD is looking back on all the people in his life.

She has appeared in other programs such as Mad Men, Power Rangers in Space, sitcoms Malcolm in the Middle, The Drew Carey Show, Friends, Tyler Perry's House of Payne, and Frasier, the short-lived series Medical Investigation in addition to the TV movie When Billie Beat Bobby and the 2000 drama Shadow Hours. In 2000, Wright also appeared as Pauletta in the teen romcom Bring It On as a fictional talk show host. She also appeared in the film Mr. Deeds, as well as the deleted scenes for the film Thank You for Smoking, in which she portrays a secretary. She appeared as the mother of Cedric the Entertainer in Johnson's Family Vacation. She also appeared in the TV movie Ben 10: Race Against Time. She had a minor role in the 2002 made-for-TV movie All I Want, which is also known as Try Seventeen. She has appeared in NCIS as the head nurse at a hospital in the episode "Hiatus". She also has appeared as nurse Maxine Landis in NBC's soap opera Days of Our Lives since 2008.[1]
