Allez Paris Saint-Germain
Allez Paris Saint-Germain (Go Paris Saint-Germain) is the official hymn of Paris Saint-Germain F.C..[1] It was commissioned by former Vice-president and shareholder Charles Talar in 1977. The hymn was given its official debut during the 1977–78 season.[2] The original lyrics were written by French group Les Parisiens and the music follows the rhythm of Village People's song "Go West".[3] Paris Saint-Germain presented their official anthem and mascot during the 2010 Tournoi de Paris. The lyrics of "Go West" were rewritten following the suggestions made by the fans in PSG's website. The club's official anthem is played before every match at the Parc des Princes. Germain the lynx was presented as the new mascot of PSG.[4] "Allez Paris Saint-Germain" is the club's anthem, but "Oh Ville Lumière" (Oh City of Light) is considered by the fans to be one of PSG's most emblematic songs.[5] The Kop of Boulogne (KoB) are known for versioning songs heard in British stadiums. Thus, was born Oh City of Lights directly inspired by the Scottish anthem Flower of Scotland. The song is considered a true club hymn. The club's motto "Paris Est Magique" comes from a mythical song at the Parc des Princes.[6] PSG's first logo and hymn appeared during 1970–71. Allez Paris! became the first official anthem of the club and was performed by Annie Cordy.[7]
In 2012, the song was rewritten as the Hymne du PSG, with its melody based on the Pet Shop Boys' version of "Go West."
