Biography

Allan Banford makes paintings, installations, mixed media and conceptual artworks. By contesting the division between consciousness and reality, Banford absorbs the tradition of remembrance into a material practice. His paintings isolate, movements, characters, emotions and objects by doing so, new sequences are created which reveal an inseparable relationship between motion and space. With his conceptual approach a wide scale of subjects in a multi-layered abstract scenario emerge, involving the viewer in a physical texturised message.

His works directly respond to the surrounding environment and uses everyday experiences to represent visually a consistent subject. Often these are framed instances that would go unnoticed in their original context but by applying the abstraction by his laceration technique, he finds that movement reveals an inherent awkwardness, a conceptualisation that echoes one vulnerabilities.

His works doesn’t reference recognisable form at glance but the results are deconstructed to the extent that the meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted by questioning the concept of space and movement. He creates intense personal pieces masterfully completed by his rules and omissions, acceptance and refusal, luring the individual perception to flow.

His works are being confronted as aesthetically resilient, thematically interrelated material for memory and reality. Allan was the recipient of the inaugural World Citizen Artist Award in conjunction with Belgravia Gallery and Play for chance foundation commemorating the first anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s death and legacy. His art works are included in numerous private and corporate collections including The Mona Flat series commissioned for The Andy Warhol Art Exchange featured at Saatchi Gallery and The Perspective Scenarios triptych resembling Turner acclaimed by critics and public alike.

He has also worked as a successful music producer, releasing his first singe called 'Essential Elements”, for SLS Records, highly respected Swedish label thanks to Jeff Mills support in his DVD “The Exhibitionist” this was closely followed by a succession of productions, including ‘Best of British’, released on Carl Cox label Intec Records. Due the sudden growth of his career he founded Evolved Records,[1] Evopro Recordings[2] and NB Records,[3] exclusively for Allan’s audiovisual productions like "Here We Are",[4] broadcast by MTV Dance and published on T-mobile Slices Magazine[5] which Allan shares with Sven Väth, Heartthrob and Ellen Allien.

Perspective Scenarios

The Lonely Star represents the mental journey of every human being to reach something that is further than expected. This painting has been created in acrylic and beautifully varnished to give a surreal texture that blends with the atmospheric scenario of the unknown.

Challenger roams the dark seas, sending pulses down into the depths of the ocean becoming familiar with it in a journey that has never been made before. Probing our environments, making sense of our surroundings, or just understanding our existence are a few of the challenges of life.

The moon shines sharp and consistent through the shadows over the dark mysterious sea as her powerful light gently touch the power behind of the magnificent red sky reminding us that we are not alone specially when everything is unknown.

Organic Surroundings

Oslo “The Super Polar Bear” Oslo is named after the Norwegian Capital City. Oslo’s secret weapon is that he is able to fly as shown in a battle with a blood dragon. He is also known to have anger management issues.

Unconditional is known as affection without any limitations. This term is sometimes associated with other terms such as true altruism. Each area of expertise has a certain way of describing unconditionally but most will agree that it is that type of feeling which has no bounds and is unchanging.

Not seeing me, not even looking, she charms her way on her green spectrum through the last long moment of   the changing light, trying to justify her guilt for just observing.
