All Children's Hospital
All Children's Hospital is a Pediatric hospital located in St. Petersburg, Florida All Children’s Hospital is the only specialty licensed children’s hospital on Florida’s west coast. Founded in 1926, All Children’s has grown into a leading pediatric referral center that is dedicated to advancing treatment, education, research and advocacy in child health. In 1967, the hospital left its south St. Petersburg location and relocated to 801 6th St. So. On Jan. 9, 2010, the hospital moved to its current location at 501 6th Ave. S. It has consistently ranked among America’s top 25 children’s hospitals in comparative studies done by Child Magazine, which rated All Children's Hospital as the best in Florida in 2007. All Children's has also garnered Most Outstanding Business awards from the Tampa Bay Business Journal and the Greater St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce.
On April 4, 2011, All Children's Hospital became part of the Johns Hopkins Health System as a fully integrated member of Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM). All Children's is the first US hospital outside of the Baltimore/Washington DC region to achieve membership within JHM, which includes The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System.
The mission of this private, not-for-profit hospital is rooted in its beginnings as Florida’s first Crippled Children’s Hospital for polio victims. All Children’s understands that it’s not enough to treat disease—that true progress comes from teaching and research to cure disease. All Children’s shares its pediatric expertise through research and education affiliations with the University of South Florida (USF Health) as well as the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute.
All Children's Hospital became synonymous with academic pediatrics when Robert A. Good became Physician and Chief. The University of South Florida's Dean of Medicine Andor Szentivanyi recruited Robert A. Good and increased USF's presence at All Children's to mollify opposition to a Tampa Children's Hospital.
As a regional referral center for children with some of the most challenging medical problems, All Children’s draws patients from throughout Florida, all 50 states and 36 foreign countries. Growing regional demand is such that construction is now underway on a new hospital and outpatient center to replace the current 40-year old facility.
