Alisah Nina Luz Salacot Bonaobra (born 22 April 1995) is a Filipino singer who participated in the second season of The Voice of the Philippines. She finished as a runner - up on the contest.

Early life

Alisah was born to a family that made their living through selling at the sidewalk since 1987. She was no stranger to singing contests herself as she has participated in singing contests in the past such as Eat Bulaga's now-defunct Gymeoke segment. She was a scholar of St. Scholastica's College's Conservatory of Music until 2014 when her scholarship was revoked after she was found to have participated a televised karaoke contest while wearing her school uniform which was prohibited under the rules of the college.[1]

Career

2014-2015: Discovery and The Voice of the Philippines

Alisah became an online singing sensation after a video of her performing "Let It Go" from the Disney film, Frozen in a karaoke machine in Robinsons Place Manila was uploaded by Henrik Jensen in July 2014. This earned her not only nationwide fame but worldwide fame as well.[2]

In November 2014, just two months after she gained fame as an online singing sensation, she auditioned for the second season of The Voice of the Philippines where she got through the blind audition rounds with her performance of Jessie J's Domino. She then chose Black Eyed Peas' apl.de.ap as her coach.[3] Lea Salonga, one of the show's coaches even stated how she would promise to turn around her chair should someone audition with a good rendition of the song, regretting her decision of not turning her chair for Darren Espanto when he auditioned with the same song at The Voice Kids' Philippine edition.[4]

During the semi-finals of The Voice of the Philippines season 2, Alisah performed Lipad ng Pangarap and a duet of One Sweet Day with Daryl Ong. As a result, she was saved from elimination and advanced to the finals.[5] On the first day of the first round of the finals held on 28 February 2015, she performed Ako Ang Nagwagi with Dulce for the duets while for her solo performance, she performed Beyonce's Love on Top. On the second day of the first round of the finals held on 1 March 2015, her solo song was Go the Distance while her duet song with her coach was a medley of Hero and You Can Do Anything.[6][7] She advanced to the second round along with Jason Dy.[8]

On the second round of the semi-finals held in 1 March 2015, Alisah performed All By Myself but ended up as the runner-up of The Voice of the Philippines season 2 after only getting 47.06% of the votes. The winner of the contest is Jason Dy who earned 52.94% of the votes.[9]
