Alina Elena Bercu (born February 1990, in Câmpina, Prahova, Romania) is a Romanian concert pianist.

Life

She started her first piano lessons at the age of 7 at the Arts School in her native town.

Since the autumn of 1999 she has settled with her family in Brasov, Transylvania, to study piano with Professor Stela Drăgulin from the Faculty of Music. Aged only 16, she passed the entrance examination at the Franz Liszt Music University in Weimar, Germany, becoming thus since October 2006 Professor Grigory Gruzman’s student. In the country, she attends in parallel the courses of the National College Andrei Saguna in Brasov.

She gave her first concert with an orchestra at only 9, succeeding in a very short while to conquer famous stages in Europe, America and Asia including: The Romanian Athenaeum and Mihail Jora Studio from the Radio Broadcast Hall in Bucharest, Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Teo Otto Theater - Remscheid, Prinzregententheater München, Musikhalle-Hamburg, Auditorium - Rome, Tonhalle Zürich, Carnegie Hall, Theatre du Vevey.

She has given over 200 concerts with famous symphonic orchestras: The Chamber Orchestra and the National Orchestra of the Romanian Broadcasting Company, George Enescu Orchestra of Bucharest, Bergische Symphoniker in Remscheid and Mozart Orchester Hamburg, The State Philharmonic Orchestra of Vienna, Gesellschaft Orchestra of Zurich, Gulf Coast Symphony – Mississippi (USA), Chamber Orchestra of Laussane and Limburgs Symfonie Orkest – Roermond (Netherland) and she collaborated with important conductors such as Sergiu Comissiona (USA), Misha Katz (France), Romely Pfund, Robert Stehli (Germany), Jan Stulen, Theo Wolters (the Netherlands), Paolo Arrivabeni (Italy), John Wesley Strickler (USA), Ilarion Ionescu Galati, Horia Andreescu, Emil Simon, Paul Popescu, Petre Sbarcea, Vlad Conta, Ludowic Bacs and Ovidiu Balan (Romania).

She has made recordings for the Golden Audio Collection of the Romanian Broadcast Company, Live broadcasts on Radio and TV: TVR Romania Cultural, Realitatea TV, ESPACE SRR Switzerland and Eurovision, Telepace-Italy, -NBC-USA, METRO TV-Indonesia.
