Alia Janine, born Alia Janine Dailey-Willis in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is a retired American porn star, actress and comedian.[1]

Adult career

Alia started in the Adult Entertainment Industry as an exotic dancer and feature entertainer when she was 20 years old. She began her career performing in adult films in 2009 when she costarred in Mamazon by the Score Group. Since then, Alia had worked with some of the top companies in the business producing over 150 scenes throughout the web, DVDs, and print. Alia retired from the Adult Entertainment Industry in 2013[2] to go back to school and to focus on her writing, stand-up comedy, and acting.[3] Besides adult films, she has also been featured in music videos, TV talk, news, and radio shows, as well as, cable and featured films.[4]

Mainstream films and TV

Alia co-starred alongside Angie Savage and Brandy Aniston in a made-for-TV-movie called Booty Hunter.[5] She was also an extra in the Spike Jonez film "Her" starring Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, and Scarlett Johansson.[6]

Alia has also appeared and starred in Playboy TV's original series Foursome (TV series) playing herself on Season 4, Episode 5.[7]

She has appeared on Russia TV at least once to voice her opinion on the adult industry and testing procedures.[8]

Comedy career

Alia began her comedy in 2010, years after other adult stars entered the comedy field, when she appeared on Sam Tripoli's The Naughty Show and in skits at the Hollywood improv.[9]

Upon her retirement from the adult industry in 2013, Alia moved to New York City to pursue a full-time career in a standup comedy. She has studied and trained at the Comedy Cellar in New York City, and under the tutelage of Cory Kahaney at the Manhattan Comedy School. She has also studied Improv and Sketch Writing at Upright Citizens Brigade in New York City.

Alia’s unique transition from the adult industry into comedy has her profile featured in multiple articles including VICE Magazine,[10] The Daily Dot,[11] On Milwaukee,[12] and Laughspin.[13]

Alia performs at some of New York City’s best comedy clubs including; The Stand, The Comedy Cellar, Upright Citizens Brigade, and Gotham Comedy Club. She has had the privilege of performing with some of the most popular comedians like; Dave Attell, Jay Oakerson, Christian Finnegan, Monroe Martin, Brody Stevens, Yannis Pappas, Jay Pharoah, Brian Redban, Duncan Trussel, Sam Tripoli, and more.[10][14][15][16]

Alia also produces and host her own comedy show, Cutthroat Comedy, in New York City’s The Cutting Room, which is owned by actor Chris Noth and musician Steve Walter.[17][18]

Alia is no longer the only porn star that has stepped into the comedy arena; she was not the first and will not be the last.

Podcast

Alia started her own Radio Show in 2014 called the Scatterbrains Podcast[19] in which she played off her experiences in the Adult Entertainment Industry and talks about her transition from porn to comedy. The podcast has featured a wide range of other comedians including Jim Norton, Brad Williams, Adam Hunter, and others.[20]

In November 2014, Alia announced the launch of her own podcast network, The Misfits Podcast Network, hosting a wide variety of podcast shows.[21]

Education

Alia graduated from Milwaukee Area Technical College in 2003 with a degree in Criminal Justice/Police Certification and is currently (2014) a grad student at Capella University double majoring in general and clinical psychology.
