Algeria–Malaysia relations refers to bilateral foreign relations between Algeria and Malaysia. Algeria has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur,[1] and Malaysia has an embassy in Algiers.[2]

History

The Algerian embassy in Malaysia were opened in 1993 with the Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika visited Malaysia twice in 2003.[3] While Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad replied the visit on the same year.[3]

Economic relations

In 2002, Algeria's exports to Malaysia worth around $2.5 million, while Malaysia's exports to Algeria reached $113.6 million.[4] Malaysian investors are encouraged by the Algerian government as the country is currently undergoing rapid infrastructure and industrial development.[5] Algeria also invited Malaysian firms for development and one of the Malaysian main oil company, Petronas for an oil exploration project.[6][7][8] Algerian main export to Malaysia including crude fertilizers and crude minerals, chemicals and chemicals products while Malaysian main export to Algeria such as palm oil, chemicals and chemical products, vegetable oil, woods products, textiles and clothing.[3]
