Alexandre "Xande" Ribeiro (born January 20, 1981 in Manaus-Amazonas, Brazil), is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, mixed martial artist and submission wrestler. He is a two-time World (Mundial) Black Belt Absolute (open weight) World Jiu-Jitsu Champion, four-time World (Mundial) Black Belt Heavy Weight Champion, and three-time World Black Belt Pro Division Champion.[17]
Biography
Xande was born in Manaus, Amazonas Brazil and moved to USA in 2002. He began training Jiu-Jitsu at the Associacao Monteiro de Jiu-Jitsu under the supervision of Binho, Guto, Yano e Lucinho Monteiro. He lived in Toledo, Ohio for 5 years, after which he moved to San Diego, CA, where he taught at the University of Jiu Jitsu and trained MMA at The Arena MMA. In 2011 he relocated in Los Angeles, California, where he runs the Xande Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu Association and his school Xande Jiu Jitsu. In October 2012 he competed in Metamoris, a submission grappling promotion against Dean Lister where he fought to a twenty minute draw.[18] He returned to Brazil in December 2013, though still makes frequent trips to the Unites States.
Personal life
Ribeiro has a brother, Saulo Ribeiro, who is also a Jiu-jitsu and submission wrestling champion. They have both won multiple ADCC and World Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships.
