Alexander Artemiev, —(Chuvash and Russian: Артемьев Александр Спиридонович), was a Chuvash poet, prose writer, translator and critic. He was born on 14 September 1924 in the village of Toore Vyla in Alikovsky District, Chuvash Republic and died on 5 August 1998 in Cheboksary[1][2]/
Biography
Having left secondary school in village Shtanashi of Krasnochetajsky District of Chuvash ASSR, has left on front. In the beginning he is a private soldier, then — the younger commander. After a victory over nazi Germany was at war in Manchuria. In fights it was three times wounded. It is awarded the order also by many fighting medals.
After demobilization worked managing a log hut-reading room in the native village, the responsible secretary of magazines "Ялав" and "Tavan Atal", simultaneously in absentia studies at Literary institute of A. M.Gorky. These years it publishes the first lyrics.
Alexander Spiridonovich has begun literary creativity with poetry. On its verses songs favorite by the people are combined: «Ах, пĕлесчĕ» (Ah to know), «Çуралнă çĕршыв» (the Darling party), «Салампи юрри» (Salampi's song) and others.
Alexander Artemyev translated into the Chuvash language A. Pushkin's, M. Lermontov's, and I. Turgenev's literary works.
