Alexsandro Pereira (born July 7, 1987), commonly known as Alex Pereira or sometimes Alex Sandro is a Brazilian kickboxer who competes in the middleweight division. He turned to kickboxing after giving up a career as a boxer. Pereira came to prominence when he became a WAKO Pro Panamerican champion in 2013. He has competed in promotions such as the SUPERKOMBAT Fighting Championship, It's Showtime, Jungle Fight and WGP Kickboxing, and signed with Glory in 2014.[1]

As of 22 June 2014, Pereira is ranked the #5 middleweight in the world by GLORY.[2] and #6 by LiverKick.com.[3]

Career

He won the Glory 14: Zagreb - Middleweight Contender Tournament in Zagreb, Croatia on March 8, 2014, beating Dustin Jacoby by first round knockout in the semi-finals and Sahak Parparyan by majority decision in the final.[4][5]

It was announced during the Glory 15: Istanbul broadcast that Pereira would be one of eight fighters competing in the Glory 17: Los Angeles - Last Man Standing middleweight tournament in Inglewood, California, United States on June 21, 2014.[6][7] He lost to eventual champion Artem Levin by unanimous decision in the quarter-finals to exit the tournament.[8][9][10]
