Alex Blanc was the stage name for Alex de Rafols whilst a member of The Nobodys,[1] a musical group based in Los Angeles in the '80s. Having created the group with singer/songwriter Safeway Goya, they independently wrote, produced and released a single, "Sex is a Bottomless Pit" on their self founded label,Whatever Records, and were subsequently signed to Capitol Records and EMI International, leading to a world wide release of the album, "No Guarantees" on August 8, 1984.
The first single release, No Guarantees,[2] was accompanied by a video, shot in Amsterdam, Berlin, and Los Angeles, and was one of the first videos to be aired on the then newly created MTV that year. The single, "No Guarantees," was used in Michael Apted's movie Firstborn, starring Peter Weller & Teri Garr (1984),[3] and in episode 27, "Buddies," of the television series Miami Vice.
