Alessio Scarpi (born 19 April 1973 in Jesolo) is an Italian football goalkeeper.

Football career

Reggina & Cagliari

Although born in Veneto, he started his career at Cagliari. He played for Reggina in two Serie B seasons before returned to Cagliari in summer 1997, and won third place to promoted to Serie A. He made his Serie A debut on 13 September 1998, Cagliari 2–2 draw with Internazionale in home ground.

He helped the team not relegated until summer 2000 finished at the second-bottom. Cagliari failed to promoted back to Serie A in 2000–01 season, and just finished at mid-table.

He lost his regular place in 2001–02 season to new signing Armando Pantanelli.

Ancona

Scarpi joined Ancona of Serie B in February 2002.

He was signed by Internazionale on 8 May 2002. But he was loaned back to Ancona on 11 July 2002, where he won promotion again.

His loan was extended on 15 July 2003. Although his second Serie A season was worse, netted 25 goals by opponent in 13 games, he was signed by Genoa of Serie B on 8 January 2004.

Genoa

He won promotion again for Genoa, but due to match fixing scandal, Genoa forced to relegation. He followed Genoa to play for personal first Serie C1 season and played 14 times, due to regular place was given to second goalkeeper Massimo Gazzoli 20 times. Scarpi back to Serie B in summer 2006, for his 9th Serie B season. Despite Gazzoli and youth product Nicola Barasso were left (Barasso in January), Scarpi lost his place again to Rubinho. He just played once in 2006–07 season.

Scarpi followed Genoa back to Serie A in summer 2007, his 4th Serie A season. He earned some chance to play and played 14 times. In 2009–10 season Genoa swapped Rubinho with Marco Amelia, and that season he played 8 times. In the next season he became the understudy of Portuguese internationals Eduardo. On 19 May he signed a new 1-year contract.[1]
