Aleksandar Stipčević

Aleksandar Stipčević Ph.D. (born October 10, 1930[1]) is a Croatian-Albanian[2] archeologist, bibliographer, librarian and historian that specialized in the study of Illyrians.

His magnum opus is the 1974 book Illyrians (Croatian: Iliri) that besides English is also translated into Italian and Albanian.[1]

Origin and work

He was born in the village of Arbanasi near Zadar, Croatia (then Zara, Kingdom of Italy).[1] He was a full professor at the University of Zagreb from 1987 until his retirement in 1997.[1] He is a member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo.[3]

Works

Some of them are translated to other languages.

He was the editor-in-chief of the second volume of the Croatian Biographical Lexicon (1983–1989).
