He was born in Fort William, Alberta.[1]
Wren sat with the Liberal caucus and ran twice in Ontario Liberal Party leadership conventions coming in second place in 1954 with 162 votes when he lost to Farquhar Oliver (himself a former United Farmers of Ontario MPP), and in last place with only seven votes in 1957 losing to John Wintermeyer. Wren served as his party's Labour Critic. He died in office in 1961.[2]
