Albert Ernest Sims
Albert Ernest (George) Sims (OBE, RVO), LRAM, ARCM (1896–1981) was a British composer, conductor and music director (Wing Commander) for The Central Band of H.M. Royal Air Force.
Early life
Albert Ernest Sims was born in 1896 in Newton Heath, which is known as Manchester. While he had the nickname George, his first name was Albert Ernest, which was usually abbreviated to A.E. He died in 1981.
Career
Sims studied music theory, composition and conducting at the Royal Academy of Music in London and then at the Royal College of Music also in London. He was director of music for the Royal Air Force. He composed several marches for band including the official march of the Royal Air Force College.
