Thomas Alan Johnson (August 24, 1983 in Birmingham, Alabama)[1] is a professional baseball pitcher. From Mississippi State University and Jefferson State Community College, he signed undrafted to the Colorado Rockies.[2][3] He currently plays for the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

After going undrafted out of college in 2005, he signed with the Rockies organization on June 14 and was assigned to Rookie League Casper. In 15 starts, he went 3-2 with a 3.97 ERA, striking out 78 in 79.1 innings. Johnson was promoted to Single-A Asheville for 2006, where in 27 starts, he went 13-5 with a 4.04 ERA, striking out 123 in 160.1 innings. Johnson was promoted to High-A Modesto for 2007, where in 26 starts, he went 14-7 with a 2.99 ERA, striking out 119 in 168.2 innings. He also made 2 starts with Double-A Tulsa. Johnson played 2008 with Tulsa, where in 28 starts, he went 4-14 with a 5.23 ERA, striking out 92 in 175.2 innings. Johnson played 2009 with Triple-A Colorado Springs, where in 26 games (24 starts), he went 10-6 with a 5.66 ERA, striking out 76 in 143 innings. He played 2010 with the team as well, where in 28 games (25 starts), he went 10-8 with a 5.91 ERA, striking out 100 in 141.2 innings. He began 2011 with Colorado Springs, where he made 1 start before being recalled to Colorado to replace Greg Reynolds.[4]

Johnson made his major league pitching debut with the Colorado Rockies April 17, 2011. He started the game, pitching 4 innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits and three walks, leaving the game with the score tied 5-5. The Rockies went on to win the game 9-5, with Johnson not factoring in the decision. He was designated for assignment on April 29,[5] and was outrighted off the roster on May 3.

Johnson returned to Colorado Springs and finished the year there, where in 26 games (23 starts), he went 5-11 with a 7.43 ERA, striking out 85 in 132 innings. After the season, he became a minor league free agent. On April 2, 2012, Johnson signed with the Lancaster Barnstormers.[6] In 27 games (26 starts) with the Barnstormers, he went 14-6 with a 4.57 ERA, striking out 79 in 138 innings. On March 11, 2013, Johnson re-signed with Lancaster.[7] On June 14, Johnson was released. In 10 games (7 starts) with Lancaster, he went 1-3 with an 8.02 ERA, striking out 20 in 33.2 innings.
