Alachua County Public Schools
Alachua County Public Schools is a public school district serving Alachua County and the Gainesville area in Florida, USA. The district currently has a student population of 29,533. The Superintendent is Dr. Owen A. Robert. The school district has been criticized in the past for overcrowding and its lack of action to remedy this. For the 2003 school year, new school zones were implemented to help ease overcrowding at the high school and middle school level. There are several elementary schools, however, that are still overcrowded.

The district has 48 schools including 25 elementary schools, seven middle schools, seven high schools, most of which have a magnet program of some sort, and nine other learning institutions.
