State Route 63 is a 46-mile-long (74 km) route in the central part of the state. The southern terminus of the route is at its junction with State Route 14 at Claud, an unincorporated community in Elmore County. The northern terminus of the route is at its junction with State Route 9 south of Millersville, an unincorporated community in southeastern Clay County.
Route description
State Route 63 is a two-lane route from its southern origin to its northern terminus. As the route passes through rural Elmore County, it assumes a general northeastward trajectory until it approaches Eclectic, where it takes a brief turn to the west before turning northward. The route crosses over Lake Martin as it passes from Elmore County into Tallapoosa County, passing the entrance to Wind Creek State Park along the lake.
At Alexander City, State Route 63 junctions U.S. Highway 280, a major route leading southeastward from Birmingham. State Route 63 continues northward through Alexander City into rural Tallapoosa County, then enters the southern tip of Clay County before reaching its northern terminus.
