Al-Bahr Mosque
The al-Bahr Mosque (Arabic: مسجد البحر, Masjid al-Bahr, Hebrew: מסגד הים, Misgad HaYam, English, The Sea Mosque) is the oldest extant mosque in Jaffa, Israel. It is situated on the Ha`aliya Hashniya harbor and therefore often referred to as the Sea Mosque. Due to its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea, fishermen and sailors used the mosque, as well as nearby inhabitants of the surrounding area.[1]
