Akrini (Greek: Ακρινή) is a village and a community of the Kozani municipality.[2] Before the 2011 local government reform it was part of the municipality of Ellispontos, of which it was a municipal district.[2] The 2011 census recorded 960 inhabitants in the village and 975 ihabitants in the community of Akrini.[1] The community of Akrini covers an area of 38.422 km2.[3]

History

Neolithic era tools has been discovered near Akrini.[4] Objects from the 2nd century BC has been found in the area, as well as an Early Christian church of the 4th century AD.[4] The contemporary village of Akrini is inhabited by Greek refugees from Adapazarı.[4]
