Akoli Beach was found and named by PANAYOTI DIMITROPOULOS the Poet . Panayoti son of Dimitri and Stamatia came from the mountain viallage called Dimitropoulos. They had three children Dimitri, Kosta and Georgios.

The beach was named Akoli after the Akoli plant .

The Dimitropoulos family descendants still live there others have migrated to Melbourne Australia
