Aki Yanagisawa

Aki Yanagisawa (Japanese: 安芸柳沢) is a Japanese soprano. A graduate of the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, she finished third in the fifth annual Japanese Vocal Music Competition in 1993. She has performed as a soloist singing numerous cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel’s Messiah, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and on the opera stage as Suzanna in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro.[1] She is a member of the Bach Collegium Japan,[2] with whom she has performed a number of Bach cantatas with, including BWV 4, 150, and 196.[1] In 1996, she recorded J. S. Bach: Cantatas Vol. 4 – Man singet mit Freuden, Cantatas • 49 • 145 • 149 • 174 (Cantatas from Leipzig 1726–29) with the Collegium and Masaaki Suzuki, Akira Tachikawa, Makoto Sakurada and Stephan Schreckenberger.
