Akhilesh Prasad Singh (born 5 January 1962) was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He represented the Motihari constituency of Bihar and was a member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) political party. Currently, he is a member of The Indian National Congress (INC)and lost from Muzaffarpur in Indian general election, 2014[1]

He was a Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution

When asked by the media why he was not vacating his official residence long after losing his parliamentary seat, he reacted sharply, saying "why should I tell you the reason? Who are you?"[2]

According to media reports , his ministry has initiated a number of measures to monitor the availability of food grains in different parts of the country. With the active participation of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) the Government has taken steps to” enable the farmers in getting latest skill about marketing their produce through procurement centers being operated by the FCI”.
