Air Bagan Flight 11 was a scheduled domestic flight in Myanmar, operated by Air Bagan, from Yangon to Heho that, on 25 December 2012, while attempting to land at Heho Airport, struck power lines, crash landed on a road and came to a stop in a paddy field and caught on fire.[1] Trees on either side of the road caused the wings to separate. The aircraft operating the flight was a Fokker 100 and carrying 65 passengers, of whom one was killed and nine injured. A motorcyclist was struck and killed and another person on the ground was injured.[1] The cause of the accident is as yet unclear; it was reported that the pilots attempted to land the aircraft on the road by mistake, but one eyewitness was quoted as saying that the aircraft was already on fire before the crash.[2][3] The pilots were injured and received hospital treatment.[4]

Two Britons, a Korean man and two Americans were reported to be among the passengers who were injured.[3][5]

Investigation

The aircraft's "black box" flight recorder was sent to Australian Transport Safety Bureau for analysis.[6] The Myanmar Information Ministry stated that the pilots mistook a road for the airport's runway in conditions described by the airline as heavy fog and landed the aircraft in a rice field.[2]
