The Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) (Irish: An tAonad um Imscrúdú Aerthionóiscí) is part of the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport of Ireland, and is responsible for the investigation of aircraft accidents and serious incidents within Ireland and in some cases to Irish registered aircraft elsewhere.

The Air Accident Investigation Unit has its head offices on the second floor of the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport offices on Leeson Lane in Dublin.[1][2] It was previously located in the Transport House in Dublin.[3] It has a permanent staff of eight personnel.
