History
Youth career
He played for the Eastern Province Kings at Under-13, Under-16 and Under-18 level at various youth tournaments between 2007 and 2012, captaining his team at the Under-18 Craven Week in 2012 and earning a call-up to the S.A. In 2013, he was included in a S.A. Under-20 training group to tour Argentina,[3] where he scored a try on his debut for the Under–20s against a Argentina Under–20 XV.[4] He was then included in the squad for the 2013 IRB Junior World Championship,[5] where he made three appearances. He was also included in the S.A. Under-20 side for the 2014 IRB Junior World Championship[6] and was named one of two vice-captains for the tournament.[7]
Senior rugby
He was included in the Eastern Province Kings senior squad for the 2013 Vodacom Cup. He made his debut in the 20-all draw against the Pampas XV.[8]
He made his first appearance in the Currie Cup competition in the opening fixture of the 2013 Currie Cup First Division season, when he appeared as a substitute in the match against the Pumas.[9] Two weeks later, he was named as a substitute for the Kings for their Super Rugby match against the Sharks.[10]
