Aga Khan Trophy

The Aga Khan Trophy is an equestrian prize established in 1926 by Aga Khan III. Eight of the top nations in the world compete to win the prize. It is held every year as part of the Fáilte Ireland Dublin Horse Show and is now part of the Samsung Super League. If the trophy is won three times in succession the nation who wins gets to take the trophy home and a new one will then be presented. Ireland last won the trophy in succession in 1977, 1978 and 1979. The team members were Paul Darragh on Heather Honey, Eddie Macken on Boomerang, James Kernan on Condy and Captain Con Power who rode three different horses each year, First riding Coolronan then Castlepark and finally the great Rockbarton. The Chef d'Equipe for the team was Colonel Bill Ringrose a legendary rider himself from the great Irish Army Equitation School.

Italy won the Trophy in 2009.
