Aeroplani DAR

Aeroplani DAR EOOD ("Аероплани ДАР" ЕООД - DAR aeroplanes EOOD) is a private Bulgarian aircraft manufacturer in Sofia, established in 1995.

The company produces ultralight airplanes. Its aircraft are named DAR - the same as the airplanes series name (and abbreviation) of the defunct Bulgarian aircraft manufacturer Darzhavna Aeroplanna Rabotilnitsa (DAR) in Bojourishte (DAR aircraft were produced as well in the former Darzhavna Samoletna Fabrika, Lovech), without any juridical or personal connection between the companies - the old DAR and the new Aeroplani DAR. Aeroplani DAR declares in its website: ... thus partially reinstating the legendary Bulgarian state aircraft workshops from the first half of XX-th century.[1]

The DAR-21 was launched in 2000, winning a best product award for 2000 in Bulgaria. Other models: DAR-21S, DAR-23, DAR Speedster, DAR Solo, DAR-23, Prio. DAR Solo, whose production started in 2008, is a single-seat FAR 103 aircraft, made with carbon fibre airframe and aluminium alloy wings, powered by a 27 hp Czech F-200 or 28 hp Hirth F-33. DAR-23 was modified under the name of Prio.

The management of the company includes: engineer Tony Ilieff - CEO, Prof. Atanas Hassamsky - chief engineer, Prof. Georgi Anestev - chief aerodinamic.
