Aer is a hip-hop band consisting of David von Mering and Carter Schultz. The duo hailing from Wayland, a small town in the suburbs of Boston, gained popularity with their debut studio album, The Bright Side, which reached the 85th place on US Billboard 200. And also well known by their second self-titled album which reached 26th place on the same chart.[1]

Early career

Von Mering and Schultz met in high school in their hometown of Wayland,[2] located in Middlesex County just west of Boston, MA.[3] After the duo’s first band broke up they struck out on their own to create their own brand of music.[4] The two created their own brand of music, being composed of rap, reggae, pop and indie rock. Between the fall of 2010 and spring of 2011 the duo released two mixtapes, the first of which is called “Water On The Moon”. Shortly after the release of “Water On The Moon” the band released their second EP “The Reach” which reached number one on the hip hop charts on iTunes.

The two dropped out of school in the summer of 2011 to work on their first full-length album “The Bright Side”, which was released in 2012. The album reached number one on the iTunes Albums chart[5][6] and Billboard 200.[7] This past year the duo released their self-titled second album on January 21, 2014. The album reached number 5 on iTunes Top Albums chart and charted at #26 on the Billboard Chart.
